Barker Boatworks About Us

Barker Boatworks was founded in 2014 by current President, Kevin Barker. After spending close to ten years in the industry, Barker ventured out on his own with one goal in mind: to design and build the “ultimate bay boat.”

In order to help take on the task of building his best in the class bay boat, Barker commissioned world-renowned naval architect, Michael Peters. Michael Peters Yacht Design was founded in 1981 and specializes in high-speed boats which have set the standard for style, performance and quality. Peters and Barker opted to utilize the “Stepped-Vee Ventilated Tunnel” (SVVT) patented hull design on both the 26 Calibogue Bay and the 26 Open. The SVVT hull has a reputation of having the lowest drag coefficient of any mono hull in the world. This low drag coefficient translates into increased speed, better fuel economy, and an all-around better ride than other conventional stepped hulls.

At Barker Boatworks, best is the standard. In total, the Barker management team shares over 100 years of experience in the industry and all twenty-eight employees have a passion for building the highest quality boats with the utmost attention to detail. Each boat is intentionally “overbuilt” using the best materials, technology and methods available today. As such, Barker Boatworks has quickly earned a reputation as an industry leader for their “Yacht Quality” fit, finish and rigging. There is no question that the quality of your boat will provide years of enjoyment for you and your family.

All Barker Boats are ‘Built to Order” to the exact specifications of the customer’s request.

Therefore, there will never be two of the same boats that leave the Barker Boatworks facility. This custom building process allows customers to remain highly involved during the build of their own one of a kind Barker 26.
